Hidden Gems #3 - It's Getting Late in the Evening by Talk Talk
Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk is a masterpiece. It has an organic sound, which feels as if songs are forming at the moment it is captured. Though on it's release it received mixed reviews, it is now rightly lauded by critics and its influence can be clearly heard in the post-rock sound of Radiohead and co. It's Getting Late in the Evening, the B side of Life's What You Make It, pointed the way towards the direction the band was going to take with Spirit of Eden. It's a song of fragile beauty that ebbs and flows with waves of strings. Absolutely criminal that something so good could be discarded as a B side.
